「WERK」（ヴェルク）。知る人ぞ知る、シンガポール発のインディペンデント・ヴィジュアル誌です。
仕掛け人は、デザインスタジオ「WORK」を率いる気鋭のデザイナー、テセウス・チャン。コムデギャルソン、アディダス、コレットなどのクライアントワークを手がける傍ら、2000年より「WERK」をスタートさせました。毎号さまざまなクリエイターたちとのコラボレーションを通じて作り上げられる、写真やアートワークがぎっしり詰まった誌面は実に魅力的ですが、この雑誌の何よりの特徴は、その贅沢なコンテンツを包み込む装丁にあります。
毎号雑誌としてのサイズは同じですが、装丁の意匠がまったく異なります。しかも同じ号でも、必ず手作業しなければ不可能な工程を経るため、一冊として同じものは存在しません。テセウス・チャンのアイディアと、それを形にするアート・ディレクターとしての力量、そして印刷大国といわれるシンガポールの高度な技術なくしては実現しない奇跡的な雑誌なのです。
